Part Time Groomer's Assistant Role:

Westchester Cat Grooming, a feline-exclusive grooming salon in Chappaqua NY, is looking to hire a part time groomer’s assistant. Applicants must have experience working with cats. Roles and requirements are listed below. 

 

No barking dogs, all equipment and tools are provided- this is a W-2 position with base hourly salary plus shared tips plus quarterly bonus. Training is provided on the job. You will be assisting a Certified Feline Master Groomer with grooms and provide administrative support. You will also have the opportunity to get paid while learning how to groom cats SAFELY for those interested in grooming cats! 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Grooming assistance (on the job training provided):

    • Assist groomers with cat handling when needed.

    • Ability to complete nail trims, nail caps application, bath, blow dry, and comb out. 

  • Administrative:

    • Assist in managing calls, texts, emails, and any social media messages

    • Assist in customer service

    • Assist in taking pictures and videos

    • Clean and sanitize equipment and tools

    • Laundry

    • Maintain a clean workplace 

 

Compensation: 

  • $15-25 per hour depending on experience and knowledge

  • Shared tips with other employees

  • Quarterly bonus after 90 days

Scheduling and Hours:

  • Start date: as soon as possible

  • Hours of operations are Thur-Sat 8am-6pm. 10 hour shifts with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Flexible to choose which day(s) you want to work.

 

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.

  • Experience working with cats in a professional or volunteer capacity, either as cat sitter, bather, kennel tech, vet tech, groomer; or through volunteer, rescue work, or currently in vet tech or vet school, etc. 

  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques

  • Reliable transportation and driver’s license 

  • Attention to detail

  • Professional appearance

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Certification or current student through National Cat Groomers Institute is advantageous but not required.
